Your No-Fail Guide to Dating During the Holidays
The holiday season can be an especially tough time for women when you're single.
You mope around thinking about the fact you don't have someone special in your life, dreading all the questions you're going to need to deflect from parents and other family members at holiday dinners, such as...
- "When are you getting married?"
- "I just don't understand why you're still single."
- "What happened to that guy you were seeing -- he seemed so nice?"
Well chin up. You have to remember they're only asking because they love you enough to care about your happiness. And that's something to be grateful for!
The holiday season is actually a fabulous time to be single -- no matter what city you live in.
Festive lights create a romantic glow in the streets... an air of festivity buzzes in all the bars, restaurants, stores, and coffee shops... What a wonderful backdrop to set the stage for meeting someone new!
With that in mind, here are four great tips for dating during the holidays...
1. Say "Yes" to All Those Invitations!
The holidays are no time to crawl under your duvet and hide -- especially if you're single!
No other time of year will provide you with more opportunity for meeting new men.
Special holiday events, office parties, and cocktail parties abound.
Every time you say "yes" to an invitation, you're letting yourself and the Universe know that you are open to meeting someone new.
It also gets you out of the house and out of your head!
2. Get Reflective
The holidays are a reflective time of year for everyone, and this is especially true if you're single.
You're likely looking back on the past year and making decisions about how you want the new year to be different, better, and more fulfilling.
Men are feeling introspective, too, and doing their own inner work. Because of this, they are primed for meeting someone new and doing things differently than they have in the past.
You'd be surprised at how open men are at this time of year, giving you lots of opportunity for more authentic connections and conversations.
3. Make the Most of Holiday Dates
The holidays are one of the best times of year to create fun and unique experiences for a first date.
Great date ideas include ice skating, or dressing up and seeing a special holiday performance.
Try creating a "progressive dinner" where you have appetizers at one restaurant, dinner at another, and then grab a hot chocolate and tour around the city looking at the lights.
When a man asks you out, these are wonderful suggestions to give him and will help you to avoid the usual run-of-the-mill dinner and a movie.
4. Talk to Strangers!
Women are often a little shy when it comes to talking to men we don't know, but the holidays are a great excuse to bust out of that and talk to strangers. Take advantage of the fact that people are feeling more open and chatty at this time of year.
One of my favorite things to do is to go shopping and ask opinions (from attractive men) about gifts I'm buying. "Do you think this is a good color?" or "Would a guy like this?” You get the idea.
You could spend your whole day at the mall meeting new potential mates and getting lots of attention without spending a dime!
(Make sure you mention that you're shopping for your brother or friend, though -- so they don't assume it's your husband! ;)
This month, I encourage you to look for -- and seize -- every opportunity you can to meet new people.
Think about what you want to do differently next year, what kind of man you want to date, and what "dating habits" you want to break free from, and start practicing them NOW.

Show Off Your "Michelle Obama" Arms in Your Little Black Dress This Holiday Season!
Her husband may be the leader of the free world, but it's Michelle Obama -- and especially her arms -- who has our undivided attention.
Her well defined shoulders, sinewy biceps, and taut triceps have made sleeveless dresses a sensation, and have inspired many of us to enter the "arms race."
To get yourself a pair of Obama-like arms, you'll need to do a couple things:
- Lower your body fat by doing cardio (you didn't think you could skip that, did you? ;)
- Develop your arm muscles through strength training.
We'll save the cardio lessons for another day; for now, let's focus on building strength.
First, an anatomy lesson...
A Tour of Arm Muscle Duty
Before we look at the best exercises for your Obama-like arms, let's talk about which muscles you need to worry about to get the results you want.
These are the key muscles in your upper arms:
- Biceps: Any time you bend your elbow, you're working your biceps.
- Triceps: Extend your arm, and you work the three muscle bundles on the back of your arms that make up the triceps.
- Deltoid: This muscle forms the rounded contour of each shoulder.
Dozens of exercises can be done to strengthen these muscles, which makes it easy to get overwhelmed.
To keep things simple, we've selected two straightforward exercises for each muscle. You can do these exercises in 10 to 15 minutes, using 3 to 10 pound dumbbells.
Complete two to three sets of each exercise, with 8 to 10 repetitions in each set. Make sure the final repetitions in each set are challenging -- since you can only get stronger if you overload (fatigue) your muscles.
Perform these exercises for at least a month, and you'll be on your way to tighter, stronger arms that even the First Lady would envy.
And show off your progress along the way in little black dresses at your holiday parties!
How to Get Obama Biceps
The following two exercises will get you well on your way to better biceps:

Biceps Curl: The biceps curl is the most common exercise for the biceps.
Hold weights with your palms facing out, elbows next to your body. Bend your elbows to curl the weights toward your shoulders. Don't swing your elbows.
Lower slowly, and repeat.

Hammer Curl: Hammer curls involve the same motion as biceps curls, except the palms face in toward your body.
This involves a bit more forearm and works your biceps slightly differently than traditional curls.
Two Tricks for Michelle's Triceps:
Perform these two tricks for taught, sinewy biceps, and wave goodbye to that flap of flab that keeps on waving even after you stop!

Triceps Extensions: Stand or sit with good posture, and hold a dumbbell with both hands. Bring the weight straight up overhead with your arms next to your ears.
Lower the weight behind your head until your elbows are at about 90 degree angles, pause, then squeeze your triceps to straighten your arms, bringing them back overhead without locking your elbows.

Triceps Kickbacks: With a dumbbell in your right hand, place your left knee and hand on a flat bench. Keep your arm tucked by your side at a 90-degree angle.
Slowly extend your right arm back, keeping your elbow still by your hip. At full extension, you should feel your triceps contracting.
Slowly lower the dumbbell back to the starting position without moving your elbow. Repeat with your opposite arm.
Shoulder the Burden of Fabulous Arms
Try these two techniques to get your deltoids fit and strong, and your shoulders looking fabulous...

Dumbbell Shoulder Press: To start, hold a dumbbell in each hand.
Raise your arms up and to the side, so they're at shoulder height with your palms facing away from you and your upper arms parallel to the ground.
Push the dumbbells over your head until your arms are almost completely extended (not locked), and the dumbbells almost touch above your head.
Complete the lift by lowering your dumbbells slowly to their original position.

Lateral Raises: Lateral raises are a great way to develop the Obama-like v-shape in your upper arm.
Start with your arms at your sides, palms facing each other, and a weight in each hand. Raise both arms out to your sides at shoulder level. Keep your arms straight but not locked throughout.
Return to the starting position, maintaining control throughout. For more work, you can do the same maneuver to the front.
Remember: do two to three sets of each exercise, with eight to ten reps in each set. If you find the exercises too easy, increase the weight you are lifting. Don't worry -- you won't get bulky!

More babies are conceived during the winter holidays than at any other time of year.
Try Something New in the New Year!
Most women in long-term relationships have a pretty good idea of what their partners like.
In fact, you may think you know your partners pleasure buttons so well that your lovemaking has become a cookbook recipe of how to heat things up, from start to finish.
You could do the steps blindfolded -- and often do.
So, before you succumb to the same old recipe, why not look outside your cookbook and try something new for the new year?
Different Strokes for Different Folks
Yes, it's true: everyone likes something a little different sexually, and no two bodies are the same.
That's why the following tips are meant to offer you a few ideas that can help you try something new with your partner. If he doesn't like one thing, try another!
Sometimes the exploration of new ideas can be the most exhilarating part.
Tip #1: The Naughty Massage
Most women assume that the penis ends where the mans scrotum begins. But in reality, the penis runs beneath his testicles.
Some men enjoy having the "invisible" or underneath part of the penis massaged.
You can try pushing into the space between the testicles with your hand or fingertips and applying some pressure while rubbing gently.
Putting pressure on this spot while massaging the "regular" part of your man's penis with your other hand can give him an extremely enjoyable, often warming feeling.
Tip #2: Wringing A Towel Dry
This is a technique that some men find stimulating: Grasp the lower part of a well lubricated penis with one had and the upper portion of the penis with the other (with no gap between your hands).
Then twist your hands back and forth in opposite directions as if you are wringing out a wet towel.
But remember -- it's important to use lots of lubrication, and be gentle! Make sure to ask your man for lots of feedback on your technique as well.
Tip #3: The Tease
This is a technique that some men find stimulating: Grasp the lower part of a well lubricated penis with one had and the upper portion of the penis with the other (with no gap between your hands).
Then twist your hands back and forth in opposite directions as if you are wringing out a wet towel.
But remember -- it's important to use lots of lubrication, and be gentle! Make sure to ask your man for lots of feedback on your technique as well.
Tip #4: Twisting The Cap Off A Bottle
Start by holding the bottom of the shaft of your guy's penis with one hand.
With your other hand, grab the head of the penis as if you were grabbing the cap on a beer bottle and twisting it off with our thumb and forefinger running along the ridge of the penis where the head attaches to the shaft (known as the corona).
Remember to use lots of lubrication and always check with your partner on how hard to grasp. This is a sensitive area!
Tip #5: The Deep Throat
If you have trouble with your gag reflex, position yourself on top of your partner in a 69 position, or lie on your back with your head over the edge of the bed. These positions will help to straighten the pathway down your throat and lesson the chances of gagging.
If you have trouble with your man thrusting during oral sex, clamp your thumb and forefinger around the upper part of his scrotum. This will place his testicles in your hand.
If he thrusts more than you want, pull downward gently, as if you were pulling back on the horse's reins. Some men actually find this very pleasurable.
Tip #6: The Things You've Never Thought Of...
Try experimenting with your teeth, or hot and cold sensations.
Some men love the feeling of an ice cube on their genitals, followed by kisses from a warm mouth filled with tea. Others like the sensation of just a little nibble, or a run of your teeth, against their penis.
Remember, techniques and turn-ons differ greatly from one person to the next, so don't try anything without checking with your partner first!
However, variety is the spice of life, so before you look to your old book of tricks, try something new this New Year...
